Scholarships for PhD students

Is there any chance to obtain a scholarship for Ph.D. program in English applied linguistics?

Ans. We are trying to attract researchers from different parts of the world we are trying to become a knowledge economy we do not have a large industrial base nor do we have a lot mining or any of those large industries that most of the countries have so we're trying to keep it clean and green in New Zealand so and we're trying to grow our soft power so to speak and which is why the government has identified certain areas as our identified future growth areas which includes biotechnology creative industry and the information technology areas these are our identified future growth areas and we as part  of our move as a country to increase or soft-power we are also trying to attract the very good researchers into the country and that is the reason PhD students are offered domestic fees and not international fees so as compared to an international fees normally which a student would pay about twenty to twenty-five thousand dollars for a one-year course but for a PhD you are probably paying only about a quarter of that which is about five to six thousand dollars approximately so there is already an inbuilt scholarship because the government is offering PhD students of the domestic fees and not the international fees plus you get full working rights the full 40 hours plus if you're coming with your spouse he or she will get the full 40 hours working right so overall it's a great package and if you are also coming with children you're all kids will also get domestic student status here in New Zealand and if you're sending them to a state school or a state integrated school the fees is not very high so overall there is already a if the whole PhD program is like a big scholarship program to be honest because we are trying very hard to attract our researchers from different parts of the world so go ahead and connect with us and we'll be happy to get you an admission to a PhD we will work closely with you and besides all this besides the inbuilt discount so to speak in to the PhD if your thesis is really if your proposal is really good there is a very good chance that you might get the full scholarship which means whatever little fees you had to pay it might also covered by the scholarship plus in certain instances some of our students have also who came for a PhD also got living expenses as well as part of the stipend so I mean it's a great opportunity and they would love to work with PhD students a lot of agencies a lot of companies do not like to work with PhD students because they perceive it to be a lot of work and that come cumbersome but we are not like that we love to work with high quality students and for us PhD students may not give us as much monetary benefit as some of the other students but for us they are the kind of students who will really make New Zealand into a strong knowledge Economy.
